L’enjeu du colloque sera de faciliter un dialogue transdisciplinaire sur les émotions. Si l’on considère qu’une nouvelle ère dans la recherche sur les émotions s’est ouverte depuis l’introduction de la technique d’imagerie cérébrale fonctionnelle, sanctionnée par le grand nombre d’études, qui sont apparues sur ce sujet depuis 1998, il est maintenant possible de discerner certains champs de recherche, qui se sont montrés particulièrement féconds ou novateurs dans ce domaine. L’objectif est donc d’évaluer les concepts sur les émotions développés en neurosciences, sciences cognitives, psychologie et philosophie.

Research in Emotion : Past and Future Transdisciplinary perspectives on explaining the emotions

This international conference will focus on an issue of great importance to philosophers and scientists, understanding human emotions. This meeting will convene prominent scientists and philosophers who study the cognitive and neurobiological aspects of emotion and its consequences for cognition. Speakers will cover four main areas ; 1) the use of functional imaging in studying the neurobiology of individual differences in emotional traits, 2) the representation of emotion in the brain, 3) the role of emotion in reasoning and self-evaluation, and 4) the sequential unfolding of appraisal driven synchronization of mental and somatic emotion components. The conference is jointly organized by the l’Institut d’histoire et de philosophie des sciences et des techniques (IHPST) and the University of Chicago Center in Paris.
